Honda Launches Three Different Variants of Clarity

Hydrogen cars are being touted as the cars that hold the future for decades. How does it benefit us? Well, the concept of hydrogen-electric cars can offer several benefits in term of environmental conservation and stability. When a car runs on hydrogen as its primary fuel source, there won’t be any carbon emissions.

A hydrogen fuel cell produces heat and water as byproducts, which doesn’t do any harm to the ecosystem. However, the car that runs on fuels derived from carbon produces carbon dioxide and other harmful pollutant that can cause several illnesses to humans. Moreover, the increasing level of carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere contributes to global warming and damages the climatic systems of our planet. The other benefit of hydrogen cars is the energy security. Most of the nations depend on other countries for importing oil and petrol. If the hydrogen cars manage to find success in market, then it will reduce the dependence on fossil fuels.

Several prototypes of hydrogen-powered vehicles have been manufactured and tested. Toyota, the Japanese automaker was the first to market its hydrogen-power vehicle, Mirai. Soon, Honda joined the team by launching Clarity. Honda FCX Clarity test model was launched in 2008 as Honda’s first hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle. As expected, the test results were good which made Honda to include Clarity in regular production.

The new 2017 Honda Clarity is a five-passenger sedan powered by a hydrogen-fuel cell that produces electricity which in turn charges a battery and powers an electric motor. As for now, the new Clarity sedans won’t be available only at Honda new vehicle specials in Texas. Designed for urban and suburban buyers, this hydrogen-fuel-cell-powered vehicle features an elegance and fresh appeal. The ultra-thin, ultra-bright inline LED headlights on the front and high-intensity red LED lights in the rear end imparts a bold look to the car. The interiors of a 2018 Honda Clarity reflect opulence with its top-quality craftsmanship and premium furnishing. Sound-insulated cabin of Clarity Fuel cell with advanced driver interface and one-touch electronic gear selector improves the comfort and convenience.

For the 2018 model year, Honda has introduced new vehicle specials in Texas and across the country. If you are planning to buy new Clarity from Honda dealers, then you have the opportunity to choose from the multiple models, each utilizing a different power system. Honda Clarity lineup mainly consists of Plug-in Hybrid, Electric and Fuel Cell. The Clarity Plug-In Hybrid is backed with a 181-horsepower electric motor coupled with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The electric motor produces 232 lb-ft of torque.

The motor is connected to a 17-kilowatt hour (kWh) battery which has an estimate recharge time of 2.5-hours at 240 volts. With the full charge, the car can move up to 42 miles and when the battery drains, a 1.5 liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder gas engine will take charge and keep the vehicle moving for an additional 288 miles. Normal, Econ and Sport driving models are available with the car, which allows the driver to modify the vehicle’s performance according to their preferences.

Clarity Electric model is powered with a 161-hp electric motor, which draws its power from 25.5-kWh battery pack. Charging time for the battery pack is just over three hours. You can find the same Normal, Econ and Sport driving modes with the Clarity Electric model. Last but not the least, Honda Clarity Fuel cell is powered with a highly-efficient hydrogen fuel cell that fits entirely under the hood. For the 2018 model, there has been a 60 percent increase in power density for the fuel stack, but it remains 33 percent more compact.

If you wish to explore more about Honda’s full line of electrified sedans, then it is wise to get in touch with the authorized Honda dealers in your locality.
